The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is the regulator of most newspapers, magazines, and related news websites in the UK. We are recruiting a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join our committed, friendly and dynamic Communications team.

IPSO holds the press to account, sets high standards, and protects the public. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this exciting role will support our work to engage effectively with our key audiences.

As part of the Communications team, you will be a great writer, have excellent relationship building skills, and be able to work with senior figures across the media, Westminster and Whitehall, as well as groups interested in our work and the public.

IPSO a small but influential and high-profile organisation that places a strong emphasis on personal development for staff, providing excellent training opportunities. You will play a key role in delivering our work to protect the public and defend freedom of expression and vigorous public debate by upholding high editorial standards. IPSO is taking a leading role in policy-making surrounding online harms.

You will help to deliver our new five-year corporate strategy. You will research and write clear briefings about policy developments and stakeholder insights.

You are personable, articulate and organised. We are a friendly, fast-paced, and we offer unique opportunities to work with the newspaper, magazine and digital news industries.

There is a competitive starting salary of up to £38,000 with 25 days paid annual leave, and great benefits including hybrid working, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, private GP service, and (once probation is completed) free gym membership.
