As Senior Policy Officer, you will work closely with the Vice Presidents and the National Boards to ensure the College’s key policy objectives are developed and represented in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The policy team works to support doctors working in A&Es in the NHS by generating evidence and influencing policymakers. It is a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment with great opportunities to develop your policy and influencing skills. You will be joining the team at a crucial time for the College as we work to ensure the pressures facing the NHS remain on top of the policy agenda. The Senior Policy Officer will play an important role providing advice and guidance to each of the Vice Presidents of the Devolved Nations regarding strategies for promoting policy objectives, whilst also providing the secretariat for RCEM National Boards including servicing and managing the boards, conducting research, compiling briefings, and creating high-level policy consultation responses. Reporting to the Policy and Public Affairs Manager, you will coordinate activities to build and maintain relationships with Ministers, Members of devolved Parliaments, civil servants and stakeholders in the Devolved Nations to influence policy decisions and outcomes. You will also work with the Communications team to create and disseminate press releases, including liaising with College spokespersons and journalists whilst assisting the Quality and Policy Team in handling enquiries and supporting College Officers.
