Job Details

Ian Murray MP is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and hard-working person to join his constituency office team.

The right person will have experience producing high quality content across a number of social media channels and ideally have some political experience already. They must demonstrate a good grasp of current Labour Party policy and be aligned to the Party's value.

This role will be based in Ian's constituency office in Edinburgh South.  

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key responsibilities:
• Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
• Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
• Monitor social media activity and report any relevant trends to the MP.
• Developing creative new engagement methods for social media accounts
• Manage MP’s website, ensuring it is updated and engaging
• Compile and design MPs monthly eNewsletter
• Devise, shoot and edit video content for a range of channels
Other duties:
• Produce high quality, well researched policy replies to address constituents and organisations lobbying of the MP.
• Take initial action on queries from members of the public, including responding on behalf of the MP as appropriate.
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
