National Historic Ships UK (NHS-UK) is a government funded advisory body representing the interests of historic vessels and their supporting infrastructure across the UK, based in offices at Royal Museums Greenwich in London.
The post holder will ensure projects and distance learning courses are run effectively and delivered to a high standard, also including maintaining the scope and reach of the Shipshape Network and expanding by connecting people, organisations, and projects across the sector. This role will lead on a range of projects promoting maritime heritage and the work of NHS-UK, whilst managing the Historic Vessel Conservation course and contributing to sector policy.
Some key responsibilities are to monitor, record, analyse, evaluate, and distil policy papers, identify and undertake grant applications and secondary income to enable continued delivery of project-based work as well as overseeing the delivery and progress of a project through actions and reporting.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in project and policy management, the ability to think analytically and strategically, knowledge to prepare formal advisory papers and excellent presentation skills. An understanding of historic vessels and knowledge of heritage sector policy is desirable.
Net working hours are 28 per week, working Monday-Thursday between 9.00-17.00. There is the option for some remote working by arrangement. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
