The Public Affairs Manager is a member of Heathrow’s dynamic Government Affairs team. The role requires excellent contacts, initiative, and dedication to working as part of a team to achieve Heathrow’s objectives. The Public Affairs Manager will build strong relationships on behalf of Heathrow and be able to use existing connections to enhance the airport’s reputation. As part of the Communications function, they will work with colleagues across the department to support proactive campaigns.

Your role will involve:

  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with a wide range of Parliamentarians and external stakeholders on behalf of Heathrow. This could be through representing Heathrow at Political Party Conferences and relevant stakeholder events around the United Kingdom or by organising Parliamentary receptions, dinners and any other relevant events
  • Supporting the activation of proactive and reactive communication strategies to build the reputation of our business
  • Working closely with Heathrow’s policy team to lead on a range of issues and develop policy priorities
  • Scanning the political horizon for issues which are relevant to Heathrow and proactively develop strategies to address them
  • Drafting briefings for Government, Parliamentarians, and other industry stakeholders to explain complex issues in a straightforward manner

These skills are essential:

  • Able to engage with politicians from across the political spectrum, using existing political relationships and experience
  • High level of personal resilience and therefore able to cope with pressurised situations and take setbacks in your stride
  • Ability to organise a range of events for a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of crafting messaging and leading and supporting on targeted campaigns
  • Talented at building credibility quickly and being authoritative in nature, hence seen as a source of expertise

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Parliamentary experience
