Job Details

Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, is looking for a hard-working and motivated individual to take on the role of caseworker. You will help Chris to represent his constituents to the highest standards in Parliament. This is an exciting opportunity to make an important contribution to a very busy office at a significant time in British politics.

The role requires a flexible, can-do approach and the ability to manage constituency casework and correspondence. The location of the role will be flexible, with opportunities to travel to both the constituency and Westminster offices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attend occasional surgeries and other meetings to assist the Member in dealing with constituents’ issues.
  • Deal with daily queries from members of the public by phone, email, letter or in person, taking the appropriate initial action to resolve, document or escalate their concerns or enquiries.
  • Manage own caseload and progress of casework, ensuring all cases are logged updated with any actions taken and outstanding queries are followed up, with urgent cases reported to the Member.
  • Assist with the work of other colleagues as required and communicate appropriately with internal and external contacts.
  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues.
  • Undertake research from readily available sources.

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
