Job Details

ABOUT THE JO COX FOUNDATION
The Jo Cox Foundation was established in 2016 by the friends and family of the late Jo Cox MP. The Foundation exists to make positive change on issues that Jo was passionate about. Just as she did, we believe in working together effectively with individuals and organisations that share the belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.

ABOUT THE ROLE
In February we launched the Jo Cox Civility Commission, aimed at finding implementable solutions to the issue of abuse and imitation of elected politicians. With Baroness Bertin and Lord Coaker as co-chairs, the Commission is gathering proposed solutions to the issue from individuals with lived experience, national bodies, charities, private sector organisations and other experts. We are using a variety of methods, including an open call, public sessions and 1-to-1 interviews.
The solutions gathering is currently being led by the CEO and the Public Affairs Manager. This new role will be responsible for distilling the large body of research being collected into a powerful final report. You will lead on analysing the evidence, identifying any gaps (and working out how to fill them!), and writing the report. An essential part of this is presenting a concise but powerful set of final recommendations to address the issue of abuse and intimidation. We anticipate that there will be a broad and cross-sectoral range of recommendations, with some requiring legislative or regulatory change while others will not.

ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone with experience of analysing a large set of research evidence and identifying key trends. Confident interpersonal skills are essential, as you’ll also need to identify any gaps in the research and then work with stakeholders to gather the required information. We’re also looking for someone with experience of producing high-profile reports, with very strong written communication skills. As some of the recommendations will require policy change, we are ideally seeking someone with experience in policy development.

This is a short-term contract so an ability to digest information and build relationships quickly
will help maximise the impact you can have in the role.
