ERA, the digital entertainment and retail association is a UK trade organisation formed specifically to act as a forum for the digital and physical retail sectors of the music, video and videogames industries. We have over 250 members from Amazon, Sky, Spotify, Virgin and YouTube to high street retailers like HMV, Game and Rough Trade.

We are looking for a part time Government Affairs Specialist (2 to 3 days per week) to join our team initially on a 1 year contract as a specialist in Public Affairs and working on building and maintaining strong relationships with public bodies with an immediate focus on Music Streaming and High Street Retail. This role will be based out of our offices in Covent Garden, London, with some flexible working possible:

Creating and implementing ERA’s Government Relations Agenda

• Building relations across the policy teams within ERA’s membership

• Conducting advocacy efforts at all levels of government and policy making

• Providing input into and implementing legislative and policy initiatives and strategies related to specific policy objectives, including inter alia; The DCMS Music Streaming Enquiry and Supporting high street retail

Working with industry associations including the Alliance for IP and the Independent Retailers Consortium to ensure representation of ERA’s interests

• Participating in industry and trade groups to develop and advocate for common industry positions

• Working with ERA and its members to understand their goals and objectives to ensure that government relations activities are aligned to their businesses

• Developing position papers and discussion guides

Requirements:

• 5 years+ iworking within government, Parliament or in a public affairs role

• Experience in both developing and delivering a politically focused strategy

• Strong cross party political relationships

• Ability to draft clear, engaging and persuasive written briefings and responses to consultations

• Knowledge of the music and the wider entertainment and technology sectors 

• Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate clear arguments in political meetings

• Ca. £50,000 FTE dependent upon experience
