The British Dental Association (BDA) is the voice of dentists and dental students in the UK. We bring dentists together, support our members through advice and education, and represent their interests.
We are looking to recruit a Committee Officer to join our Policy and Research Team. The BDA headquarters are located in Central London, and we offer a flexible hybrid model of working between our offices and home-working.
About the role
The successful applicant will provide professional administrative and secretarial support the work of the BDA’s Policy and Research Team. It will be the committee secretary to a number of the Association’s policy-making committees representing various sectors of dentistry, ensuring that they operate effectively and efficiently.
About you
You’ll have excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a detailed-oriented and diligent approach to your work. You’ll be adept at at managing a complex workload and competing deadlines, and will be able to plan work effectively, prioritising tasks and anticipating upcoming needs of your team and committees.
Experience of having previously acted as a committee secretary, or in another secretarial role, would make you well suited to the post but is by no means essential.
You’ll have a strong writing ability, being able to confidently produce complex and technical minutes and reports, which will be an essential part of your role
You’ll be an effective and confident communicator, with interpersonal skills that allow you to work with people in various positions with differing levels of seniority. You’ll be a team player who is dedicated to supporting the work of colleagues, while also having the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
You’ll understand what the role and purpose of trade unions and professional associations is, and you may have an interest in the health policy that the committees you support have a key role in forming.
