Who We Are
The Gambling Commission is looking for a motivated individual to be our new Private Secretary. This role will significant role supporting the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) in the Gambling Commission at a time of fundamental change both internally and externally. In the coming years we will be transitioning to a new, fourth National Lottery Licence. We will be looking to advise and implement any changes from the Government’s Gambling Act Review.
Set up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. We do this by keeping crime out, protecting children and vulnerable people and ensuring the commercial gambling industry is run fairly and openly.
The Role
This role provides direct support to the DCEO, helping to craft and deliver the dual roles as Executive and DCEO, with the overall aim of maximising the DCEO’s time to enable them to focus on top priorities. This is particularly important in the development of Commission strategy and in the context of the DCEO’s responsibilities, including the regulation of the National Lottery where the transition to a new licence, new Licensee and new form of regulation are all likely to demand significant DCEO input.

- Ability to think strategically, see, understand and communicate the bigger picture with a wider understanding of the Commission’s operating environment, including the political context.
- Experience of planning and organisation skills, with the ability to react quickly and adapt to changing circumstances and manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex and broad issues quickly, rapidly process data and information and using judgement to distil key points and to escalate risks and issues appropriately.
