Salary: £21,529 to £27,000 dependent on experience

Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Liz Kendall’s team as a full-time caseworker.

Based in Liz's Leicester West constituency office, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing an excellent service to Liz’s constituents.

The ideal candidate will have experience or working in a casework, advocacy or advice role, with excellent organisation and customer service skills

Good written communication and a professional telephone manner are essential for the role.

A driving licence is desirable, and the role may involve some evening and weekend work.

Key responsibilities

  • Dealing with enquiries from constituents face-to-face, by telephone, email, and letter
  • Logging casework, taking the appropriate action promptly, and monitoring updates to share with constituents
  • Ensure cases are dealt with in a confidential and sensitive manner
  • Liaising with agencies and organisations to gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Drafting responses to constituents, organisations and stakeholders
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework
  • Assisting with MP surgeries and local meetings to take notes and follow up agreed actions
  • Assist with organising and administering local campaigns on issues relevant to the constituency
  • Getting to know and understand local or emerging issues to update the MP
  • Produce casework reports
  • Ensure records and information are kept in accordance with the GDPR
  • Assist with other office tasks as required


Skills & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving and multi-tasking environment
  • Competent use of IT, including casework management systems and Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, constituents, and stakeholders
  • An understanding of the issues affecting constituents in Leicester West
  • Experience of good customer service with an ability to deal with the public in a helpful and sympathetic manner
  • Experience of managing a caseload in a similar professional context
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party
