Job Details
I am looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational and time management skills to run my constituency office in Hull North. You must have excellent communication skills plus a can-do attitude in a fast-paced busy political environment. This role needs a self-starter with a clear appreciation for working at pace.
The key purpose of the role is to enable the smooth running of the office including managing a small team. Duties include running the constituency diary, allocation and oversight of constituency casework, developing key partnership working in the constituency & contributing to Parliamentary activities
Travel for work and working outside normal hours may occasionally be required.
Responsibilities
• Forward planning and management of the constituency diary
• Supervise casework
• Horizon-scanning; proactively identify problems and resolve them
• Work with local groups to identify important issues, engage with local communities
• Work with Parliamentary office staff to ensure strong links between constituency & Westminster
• Attend meetings; record & track action points
• Support the MP’s office and objectives through effective communication and social media presence
• Plan and prioritise routine work, and process items that require Diana’s attention
• Foster effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders
• Manage records in line with GDPR
Skills required:
• Excellent team working and communication skills.
• Skilled in the Microsoft office suite
• Ability to work on sensitive issues with confidentiality
• Ability to plan strategically and proactively
• Proven track record of office management
• A strong communicator, able to communicate messages clearly to a range of audiences at all levels – both verbally and in writing
• Proven exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise work
• Experience of managing conflicting priorities in a fast paced work environment
• Experience of using social media platforms
• Knowledge of Hull and issues affecting the area
• A commitment to Labour values
Desirable knowledge and experience:
• Experience of working in government and / or the wider public sector
• Previous experience in a casework or policy-based role
