Work with some of the most senior professionals in local government, as well as senior Civil Servants in Whitehall and SW1, and have the chance to help influence Government thinking on some of the biggest issues facing the country.

We are recruiting a Policy Officer to help provide research, analytical, communications, and administrative support to Solace's Policy Team and Policy Board.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious candidate to work on key national policy agendas including tackling the cost-of-living crisis, achieving economic growth, levelling up, health and social care reform, and many other crucial areas of public policy.
Job duties/key responsibilities
• Undertake research and analysis to help develop and communicate policy advice through consultation responses, reports, events, and surveys
• Organise events – roundtables, webinars, meetings – with a range of external and internal stakeholders, including Ministers, senior Civil Servants, and Solace’s Policy Board
• Collaborate closely with Solace’s Business Partner team to help set up and run policy-focused events, and create bespoke content around them
• Provide administrative and communications support to the Policy Team, including organising internal meetings and helping to coordinate and write Solace’s weekly newsletter for members
Person specification
• Excellent writing skills – both short form (summaries, briefing notes, articles) and long form (reports, essays)
• Strong communication skills, including verbal and presentation skills
• History of building effective working relationships, including with senior people
• Ability to successfully plan, manage and monitor multiple projects
• Keen interest in public policy and current affairs
• Knowledge and experience of local government policy issues would be beneficial
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and social media. Experience of using Hubspot, Survey Monkey, and Salesforce would also be helpful
• Self-starter, able to work on own initiative as well as in a team
