Job Details

The West London Conservative Group (WLCG) is recruiting a new Group Manager/Agent for the period between the GLA elections up to and including the General Election. WLCG covers the constituencies of Hammersmith & Chiswick and Brentford & Isleworth. The role involves being the main political and membership co-ordinator, as well as acting as the P agent for our two (already selected) Parliamentary candidates.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior full-time role working with two well-resourced  London associations, at a critical time for the Conservative Party nationally. The Group will make a permanent appointment after the General Election, so there is also the possibility of a longer term arrangement.

The role includes:

  • Strengthening our existing volunteer networks and building a powerful local campaigning force across the two constituencies;
  • Serving as agent for our Parliamentary candidates, including ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and promptly, and submitting spending returns;
  • Organising campaign activities with parliamentary candidates, councillors, and association officers, including distributing material, advertising campaign sessions, etc.;
  • Producing campaign literature, maintaining group and constituency websites, sending out emails and newsletters, and writing press releases;
  • Focussing mutual aid for the General Election;
  • Liaising with colleagues in neighbouring constituencies, CCHQ, and other bodies;
  • Collaborating with local councillors and our parliamentary candidates to run specialised local campaigns;
  • Working with our Group Officers to ensure the Group is run professionally and prudently;
  • Acting as secretary to Group Management Board and Executive Councils;

The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Chair and Group Management Board.

All candidates will be considered. However, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Sympathy towards the goals of the Conservative Party
  • Experience as election agent for a parliamentary candidate
  • Experience of administering small organisations
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Votesource, Campaign Toolkit, and MailChimp
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure
  • A patient and productive approach to working with association officers and volunteers

Closing Date: 10 April 2024
