Would you like to advocate for something that makes a positive difference to people's lives?

This role will help develop ABI policy to improve the health of UK citizens.

This role involves leading and contributing to projects with ABI colleagues, government, our members in the insurance industry and other stakeholders. Key workstreams for the team include developing policy on workplace health, health data sharing, and the interaction between medical progress and insurance, as well as building the evidence base to back up our policy recommendations.

What's the job?

Deliver several key outcomes in the ABI Business Plan relating to health and protection insurance.

Work effectively with colleagues in the health and protection team, and colleagues across policy, data & analytics, regulation, and corporate affairs, to create political and media support for the important role health and protection insurance plays in supporting the health of UK citizens. Develop effective policy to drive greater use of these products.

Engage with ABI members, stakeholders and government officials in the development of policy, using data, research and analytical skills to develop credible and evidence-based solutions.

Present at ABI committees, workshops, and events, to explore problems, develop solutions and build consensus.

What skills you'll need

You’ll be comfortable handling multiple priorities and facilitating meetings with your various stakeholders to arrive at desired outcomes.

A confident, persuasive and friendly communication style will stand you in good stead, both with your stakeholders and colleagues, to help you navigate policy issues and build consensus on a way forward.

Alongside this, you’ll also need excellent project management and analysis skills to be able to digest complex information quickly and make it engaging and accessible for others.

Minimum requirements:

Excellent analytical skills and an evidence-based approach to policy making, decision making, and problem solving. Sound judgment.

Intellectual curiosity, with proven experience of leading and analysing complex public policy issues, identifying policy risks and finding solutions.

Excellent lobbying and relationship-management skills, including the ability to influence and persuade senior people in member firms, Government, regulators and elsewhere.
