Tan Dhesi MP is looking for 2 Constituency Caseworkers (one on a full-time basis and one on a part-time basis [3 days per week]) to join our team in Slough, based in our constituency office in Chalvey, which is within easy commuting distance from central London.

Key responsibilities:
• Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Dealing with queries from members of the public by telephone and email on issues relating to housing, benefits, school placement and other such casework from constituents
• Attend constituency meetings and surgeries as appropriate and represent MP when necessary
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the MP is accurately informed on key issues
• Progress and draft individual casework as required
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports
• General administrative tasks - Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and typing correspondence
• Assist the MP with other duties as required

The ideal applicant will have:
• A demonstrable passion for helping others
• Strong written and communication skills
• The ability to communicate in another language, especially Punjabi, Urdu or Hindi
• A good understanding of the British political system and local government
• A good understanding of Housing and Benefits systems
• A good grasp of current affairs
• An understanding of constituency issues
• Basic knowledge of immigration law
• Competent use of IT – knowledge of caseworker.mp or similar software
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Sympathy to the values and aims of the Labour Party
• Experience of managing a caseload in a similar professional context and in prioritising tasks
• Experience in an MPs office or similar local government / government organisation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
