Job Details
Baggy Shanker, MP for Derby South, is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible individual to work as part of a constituency casework team that will provide an outstanding and committed service to the people of Derby South.
The team will work on a hybrid basis – some days from home and some days based in an office in Derby – so the successful candidate will need to adapt to this with the appropriate support provided. Flexible working hours will also be considered.
Flexibility to work on the occasional evening and weekend will be required, which will be compensated with time off in lieu.
Key responsibilities:
• Manage large numbers of standard queries and assist on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
• Liaise with government agencies, the voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation.
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP.
Baggy is looking for someone who:

• Is proficient in basic IT
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
