Job Details
Applicants are invited to join my innovative team as a Research Officer based in Folkestone. The role will support my Constituency Office to deliver constituents’ personal casework; constituency related research and projects; some local communications work; community outreach and relationship building with local stakeholders; as well as administrative tasks. Local knowledge of the Folkestone and Hythe constituency would be a great asset; as would an understanding of the issues facing coastal communities.

Key responsibilities:
• Handle a high volume of personal casework
• Undertake research on local constituency issues
• Relationship build with a range of local stakeholders
• Monitor local and regional media, as well as the MP’s social media accounts
• Develop strategies to increase local engagement with the MP’s social media
• Produce social media content based on the MP’s activities in the constituency
• Liaise with local media
• Organise constituency visits for the MP
• Undertake diary management of constituency-based events
• Support the MP at constituency events such as surgeries, Q&As, coffee mornings and undertake follow-up work
• There will be a requirement at times for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
