Job Details

Cat Eccles MP is looking to recruit a dedicated and highly organised Caseworker to join her constituency team in Stourbridge.


This is an exciting opportunity to support constituents on a wide range of issues and play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of a busy MP’s office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse and complex caseload, ranging from providing comprehensive policy responses to compassionate and timely support for constituents, and liaising with external organisations to help resolve urgent cases.


Key Responsibilities:
• Handle a high volume of casework, ensuring each case is documented, tracked and responded to efficiently.
• Provide information, advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues including housing, immigration, benefits, education, and health.
• Draft correspondence to constituents and external bodies to a high professional standard.
• Liaise with government departments, local authorities, and other organisations to progress and resolve cases.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with data protection legislation.
• Monitor casework trends to support policy work and identify local or systemic issues.
• Assist in the formulation of responses to policy queries and contribute to briefings for the MP.
• Support existing caseworkers within the team and attend casework surgeries with the MP.


Essential Criteria:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and a varied caseload.
• Demonstrable experience in handling complex casework or policy issues.
• Understanding of key issues affecting constituents such as housing, welfare, immigration, and public services.
• High level of professionalism and discretion, with a commitment to confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
• Sympathetic to the aims, values, and objectives of the Labour Party.


Desirable:
• Experience using casework management systems, particularly Caseworker.mp.
• Knowledge of the political and parliamentary system.
• To occasionally travel and work outside normal office hours.
