Job Details

Sureena Brackenridge MP is looking for a highly motivated, politically aware and skilled communications professional to join her team as a Communications Officer. You will play an essential role in communicating Sureena’s work to constituents across Wolverhampton North East and supporting her as an active and visible MP.

Based in the constituency office, you will work closely with the team to coordinate and deliver media, digital and campaign communications across Westminster and the constituency, demonstrating the impact of Sureena’s work.

You will develop and deliver constituency campaigns, identifying opportunities to turn local issues and casework into campaigns, and producing communications that engage constituents and key stakeholders.

You will monitor media and social media activity, identify opportunities, suggest creative content to grow reach and engagement, and analyse feedback and data to inform messaging and priorities.

The role may be Part Time or Full Time, so please make clear your preference in the application. If you have experience in a communications or media environment, we would like to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will have:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong experience in media, social media and/or digital communications
• Strong digital content creation and delivery skills
• Understanding of digital media trends and campaigning
• Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills

Key responsibilities:
• Develop targeted communications and issue-based campaigns across a range of platforms
• Monitor local, regional and national media and social media, identifying relevant issues, trends and opportunities
• Create, edit and publish engaging digital and social media content
• Identify opportunities to turn local issues and casework into campaigns
• Draft external communications, press releases and public statements
• Produce clear briefings, reports and follow-ups for meetings and events
• Organise community surveys and analyse feedback to inform the Member’s work
• Support stakeholder engagement and wider campaign activity
• Maintain confidential records in line with the Data Protection Act
• Undertake general office administration and work flexibly, including occasional evenings, weekends or travel
