Job Details

Mark Sewards MP is looking for a diligent and capable individual to act as constituency assistant at his constituency office in Leeds South West & Morley. This is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself within the local area and make a difference to the lives of the residents. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required
  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
  • Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
  • Log all cases, monitor progress, and ensure all identified actions are taken.
  • Draft high-quality responses to constituents.
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately, in accordance with the MP’s requirements.
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with GDPR.
  • Assist at surgeries and other constituency meetings and follow up as appropriate.
  • Assist the Office Manager and Communications Officer with community engagement and campaign projects.
  • Other duties as required.

Person Specification

  • Able to work both in a team and unsupervised, prioritising a challenging workload.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good judgement and a professional approach to their work. 
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, willing to support a range of office functions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including drafting letters and emails to a high professional standard.
  • Knowledge of the Leeds South West & Morley constituency.
  • Good IT skills including MS Office.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle.

Additional information

  • The role requires working some evenings and weekends.
  • Travel will be required, both around the constituency and occasionally to London.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews to be held in person between 4 and 11 September 2026, (including completion of an assessment task).
