Job Title: Project support officer - Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Working For: Solace

Location: Wakefield - but suitable for hybrid working or remote

Salary: £30,000

Length of Contract: Till March 2027

Job Details

We’re recruiting a Project Support Officer (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) to join Solace on a fixed-term contract until March 2027, working 35 hours per week with possible hybrid/remote working.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of Solace’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) programme and contribute to work that promotes inclusive leadership across local government.

Working closely with our Programme Manager – Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead, the postholder will provide additional project capacity across a range of initiatives. This will include coordinating projects and activities, engaging with stakeholders, monitoring progress, supporting communications and helping to ensure key milestones are delivered effectively.

As a short-term, capacity-building role, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their project management experience and gain valuable insight into the local government sector. It could suit someone at an early stage of their career, a recent graduate, or an experienced project support professional looking for a fixed-term or secondment opportunity.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, collaborative and passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion, with the ability to build positive relationships, manage competing priorities and support the successful delivery of projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing effective project coordination, maintaining accurate documentation and supporting clear, timely communication across projects and activities.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to coordinate project activity, monitor actions and support the delivery of key milestones and outcomes.
  • Tracking project progress, identifying potential risks and issues, evaluating their impact and preparing clear updates and reports for relevant stakeholders.
  • Supporting communications and engagement, helping to plan and deliver communications that raise awareness of EDI initiatives and encourage the sharing of learning, insight and good practice.
  • Supporting the wider EDI programme, contributing to a range of activities that help strengthen inclusive leadership and promote equality, diversity and inclusion across local government.

Closing Date: 25 August 2026

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews are expected to take place in early September. We are looking for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible, subject to the required recruitment and onboarding processes. We may appoint before the closing date if a suitable candidate is identified.
