Job Details

Emma Reynolds MP is seeking a proactive, politically engaged Senior Parliamentary Assistant & Communications Officer to support her parliamentary and constituency work. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Handle complex policy casework and queries, providing policy advice, research and briefings.
• Lead and deliver the MP’s digital and print communications strategy/grid, including content planning and audience engagement across multiple channels.
• Create high-quality video and digital content, from concept development through to filming, editing and publication.
• Accompany the MP to visits, meetings & events, capturing and producing engaging content.
• Support local campaigns and communications activity in collaboration with the wider team.
• Supervise junior staff in Westminster.
• Attend and support meetings and events, including occasional work outside normal office hours.
• Undertake additional duties as required in support of the MP’s parliamentary responsibilities.

Skills and Experience
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to news developments and announcements.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear and engaging content.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with experience interpreting complex information.
• Experience in digital content creation, social media management and drafting press releases.
• Knowledge and experience of UK parliamentary procedures and the political landscape.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and relevant digital tools.
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.

Location and Working Arrangements

This is a full-time role based in Parliament. The position is not offered on a home-working basis. The expectation is a minimum of four days per week working from the parliamentary office or constituency, with flexibility for an average of one home-working day per week. Frequent travel to Wycombe will be required.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
