Job Details

Neil Duncan-Jordan, the Labour MP for Poole, is recruiting a caseworker to work in his constituency office. The caseworker will work with the other members of Neil’s team, to provide an excellent service to constituents and to support Parliamentary work.

The Caseworker’s duties will include:
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries (largely based around local issues), as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face
• Draft responses to constituents
• Proactively seek to resolve issues by dealing with the appropriate authorities, organisations or individuals
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP’s wishes
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases

Personal Specification
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft clear and professional responses to constituents.
• Ability to deal with members of the public effectively and sensitively through various channels: phone, email, social media and face-to-face.
• Ability to gather relevant information, resolve cases effectively to provide good outcomes to constituents.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing records and information.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

A driving licence and commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party are desirable. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
