Job Title: Video Content Creator

Working For: Helen Whately MP (Faversham and Mid Kent)

Location: London

Salary: In line with IPSA payscales / contractor rate by agreement

Length of Contract: Negotiable

Job Details

Helen Whately MP is looking for a creative, highly motivated and politically aware individual to join her team.

As a Video Content Creator, you'll play an important part in how Helen communicates with the public about her work.

You'll take raw footage and turn it into polished, platform-ready video content and think creatively about what works best on different platforms.

We're looking for someone who can suggest ideas for videos, then take that footage and edit it into content tailored for each channel.

Depending on location and availability, you may also film content in and around Parliament or on visits – either using an iPhone and accessories (provided), or with your own specialist equipment (optional).

This isn't a routinely office-based role, but if you're in reasonable reach of London, we're keen for you to be in from time to time. If you're an outstanding editor but based too far from London to film regularly, we'd still love to hear from you.

This is a flexible role, offered either as part-time employment (up to 16 hours p/w) or on a contractor basis, depending on the successful candidate's circumstances.

If you can think creatively and work to tight deadlines, we'd like to hear from you. Video editing skills are essential; knowledge of Helen's work would be great, but more important is a keen interest in effective digital communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Come up with ideas for video content and formats suited to Helen's work
  • Edit footage into finished videos: subtitling, adding animations & graphics
  • Tailor and reformat videos for different platforms
  • Identify which video styles and formats work best across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and X
  • Film short format video content
  • Design graphics (e.g. to promote Helen’s articles), using software such as Adobe
  • Monitor trending issues and formats, and proactively suggest new ways to communicate Helen's work

Skills & experience

  • Track record of editing and producing video content for social media, including captions, subtitles and platform-specific formatting
  • Proficiency in video editing software
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of social media and digital platforms
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interest in politics, public affairs and current events; sympathy with Conservative Party values

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Closing Date: 16 September 2026
