Job Details

This position is advertised within the remit of the Westminster office or the constituency office, depending on the candidate.

As a Caseworker in the office of Terry Jermy MP, you will be part of a dedicated team committed to supporting constituents with a wide range of issues. Working alongside our team of Caseworkers, your role will involve handling casework empathetically and efficiently, liaising with government departments and local agencies, and ensuring timely and appropriate responses to constituent concerns. You will maintain accurate records, draft correspondence, and contribute to the smooth running of the MP’s office, helping to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents. Depending on the candidate, this role may be based in Westminster or the South West Norfolk constituency.

Experience in casework is preferred, however experience in a similar role providing advice to individuals will be considered.

The position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate and build relationships, and strong administrative and organisational skills to manage a busy workload.

Key Responsibilities

• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required
• Draft responses to constituents
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
• Assist with preparing and attending surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

Interview/Start Dates

Start Date: ASAP upon appointment. You will be required to undergo security clearance before commencing employment.
If invited to interview you will be required to complete a written exercise as well as a panel-style interview.
