Job Details

Green MP Carla Denyer is looking for a senior case worker for her Bristol Central constituency team.

Responsible for managing a busy and complex case load, you will need excellent organisational and communication skills and to be flexible and calm under pressure. You should have a strong understanding of the main issues facing constituents in Bristol Central, excellent political judgement, and the ability to support Carla in making sure her constituents are fully represented in Parliament.

The role reports to the Constituency Office Manager and includes line management of a case worker, working closely with Carla Denyer’s other staff, case workers for other Green MPs and Parliamentary Green Party staff.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
• Attend constituency meetings as appropriate.
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required.
• Write and sign off responses to constituents.
• Lead the scheduling, arranging and publicizing of MP surgeries.
• Develop and manage relationships with local organisations and stakeholders, including to assist with briefing the MP for meetings and visits.
• Proactively progress cases and keep constituents informed.
• Liaise with government agencies, voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.
• Develop knowledge in specialist areas.
• Supervise other members of staff including coaching and mentoring.
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation.
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
• Undertake any other tasks that the MP requires to help them fulfill their responsibilities.
