Job Details

We are seeking an organised and reliable part-time Administrative Officer (15 hours per week) to join our constituency office in Bexleyheath. A significant part of this role will involve preparing and hand-delivering constituency correspondence to households across Bexleyheath and Crayford. All deliveries and associated travel will be undertaken personally by the postholder as part of their regular duties. The successful candidate will also provide general administrative support, assist with constituency events, and help ensure residents receive a responsive service.

The role is for 15 hours per week, which can be over 2 or 3 days, but Friday must be one of those days.

Job Description:

  • Printing, preparing, organising and delivering written correspondence to households across the constituency, ensuring timely and accurate distribution to designated roads and areas.
  • Undertake regular walking and local travel throughout the constituency to deliver correspondence and support community engagement activities.
  • Support colleagues with other tasks as required.
  • Assist with drafting written correspondence to constituents.
  • Assist with arrangements for events – this may include venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required.
  • Engage professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, through a variety of methods.
  • Handle administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries.
  • Minute taking.
  • Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and typing correspondence.
  • Open, handle and action email, post and social media enquiries.
  • There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.

Person Specification:

  • Comfortable working independently and spending significant periods travelling on foot around the constituency.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and able to manage workload effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Friendly and professional manner when engaging with members of the public.
  • Understanding of and sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
  • Excellent IT – including use of the office suite, general administrative and organisational skills.
