Job Details
Claire Hazelgrove MP is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Policy Support Officer to join her local office.
Supporting Claire to be an active, impactful and approachable MP, this role will oversee the response to policy and campaign enquiries from local people; log and produce reports on topics and volumes; proactively lead on drafting policy and campaign email responses; and respond to residents’ policy and campaign inquiries.
This role is fixed-term until 31st March 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Key responsibilities
• Research, draft and send high-quality responses to constituent policy queries
• Lead the policy and campaigns process for the office, overseeing master drafts and version control, to support a timely and efficient sign off procedure
• Work closely with the wider team to ensure residents are regularly updated on the work of the MP in the constituency and in Westminster
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face
• Draft responses to constituents
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
• Sympathetic to the aims, values and objectives of the Labour Party
