Job Details

Mary Creagh MP for Coventry East is recruiting a full-time Administrative Officer for her constituency office. The successful candidate will be organised, compassionate and professional, with excellent communication skills and able to support constituents in challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Respond professionally to constituents by telephone, email and face-to-face
  • Provide administrative support to Mary and the constituency team
  • Assist with routine enquiries and support complex casework
  • Monitor cases and complete agreed actions promptly
  • Draft routine correspondence
  • Identify when cases should be escalated within the team
  • Monitor incoming correspondence, ensuring appropriate responses
  • Manage personal information confidentially, in accordance with data protection legislation
  • Assist with constituency surgeries, meetings, and visits including support on the day
  • Support Mary's work with residents and communities across Coventry East
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant local services
  • Work effectively with colleagues in both offices

Skills Required
Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Organised administrator with attention to detail
  • Engage professionally with the public showing empathy for those in difficulty
  • Manage competing priorities and follow up agreed actions
  • Handle sensitive information appropriately and understand the importance of data protection
  • Work proactively and complete tasks independently
  • Work effectively as part of a small team
  • Confident using Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams; willing to learn case-management systems
  • Commitment to providing a high standard of service to constituents
  • Commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party

Desirable

  • Experience of casework, customer service or supporting the public
  • Experience organising meetings, community events or public-facing activities
  • Understands the role of an MP’s constituency office
  • Knowledge of Coventry East and its communities

The postholder may occasionally be required to work outside normal working hours and travel for work.
