Job Details

Stephanie Peacock MP is looking to recruit a Parliamentary & Digital Communications Assistant to work in her London Office. The role would require a creative, proactive and experienced individual with excellent writing and communication skills who is able to work autonomously.

Previous experience in Parliament or a similar role is desirable, but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce original visual content for social media using software such as Adobe Premier Pro and Canva
• Proactively lead on a digital strategy, including planning, creating and developing engaging content across a wide range of channels
• Edit and subtitle video clips
• Produce a monthly digital newsletter
• Manage Stephanie’s website and monitor social media channels
• Suggest content ideas, formats and trends to grow reach and engagement
• Manage relationships with media and draft long and short form content for media, where relevant
• Provide proactive communications support for local issue-based campaigns
• Logging policy enquiries from constituents
• Researching and responding to constituents on a range of policy subjects
• Handle and manage email and telephone enquiries
• Develop knowledge of parliamentary business and procedure
• Monitor parliamentary activity and advise Stephanie on policy and political developments
• Undertake research on a range of subjects
• Drafting speeches when required

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• The ability to take the initiative and prioritise workload under pressure
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
• Exemplary time management and organisational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• An interest in politics and good knowledge of Parliament
• Support for the aims and values of the Labour Party
• Degree level qualification not essential.
