Working For: The Royal Society

Location: London

Salary: £35,000-£38,500

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Prospectus is delighted to be supporting The Royal Society in the recruitment of a Policy Adviser to join its Education and Skills Policy team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to influential policy programmes focused on educational reform, mathematics and data education, education research, and skills development across the UK. Working at one of the world's leading independent scientific academies, you will help shape evidence-based policy that improves outcomes for young people.

Working closely with the Senior Policy Adviser, you will lead and coordinate policy projects from conception through to delivery. Responsibilities include turning strategic recommendations into practical action, conducting and managing research, producing policy briefings and reports, and supporting the delivery of workshops, conferences and stakeholder engagement activities. You will bring together experts, researchers, educators and policymakers to address key challenges in education and skills.

You will play an important role in building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and supporting the development of evidence-informed policy recommendations. The role requires excellent project management skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and confidence working independently in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will have experience in policy, research, public affairs, or a related field. You will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to analyse complex information and present it clearly, and have excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities. While experience of education policy would be advantageous, it is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong policy expertise, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine commitment to improving education and skills outcomes.
