Salary: £26,039 (pro-rata)

Length of Contract: Up to 6 months with 12-week probationary period

An exciting opportunity for someone looking to start a career in politics, public service or public affairs.

The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in an MP’s constituency office, supporting Michael and the team with constituent enquiries, casework and office administration. The role involves responding to policy queries, setting up and progressing cases, assisting with constituency communications, and providing administrative and event support.

The role will provide a valuable opportunities to develop skills in research, communication, team working and administration.

Hours
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to constituent enquiries by phone, email, social media and in person.
  • Research, draft and send responses on behalf of the MP.
  • Support casework by gathering information, logging cases and monitoring progress.
  • Ensure enquiries are handled promptly, accurately, sensitively and confidentially.
  • Maintain records in line with data protection requirements.
  • Assist with constituency events, surgeries and meetings.
  • Support diary and inbox management.
  • Provide general administrative support to the office.
  • Occasional work outside normal hours and travel when required.

About You

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident using email, calendars and other digital tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.

Previous parliamentary or political experience is not required. Suitable experience may come from public services, customer service, the voluntary sector, executive support or other public-facing roles.
