Working For: James Asser MP (West Ham & Beckton)

Salary: £30,000pa (pro rata, two days a week)

Length of Contract: Permanent (with a six month probation period)

Job Details

James Asser MP is looking to recruit a Caseworker to join his office on a part-time basis (two days a week), supporting his work for the constituents of West Ham & Beckton.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

Gather and research relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
Draft responses to constituents
Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members.
Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately.
Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media, or face-to-face.
Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up where necessary.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle a varied and busy caseload.
Ability to form relationships across the constituency and connect with people from various backgrounds.
Ability to work well under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines.
Commitment to the values of the Labour Party.

Desirable

In-depth knowledge of the West Ham & Beckton constituency and the issues it faces.
Previous experience working in an MPs office or in a casework facing role.
