Job Details

Adnan Hussain MP is seeking a proactive, politically engaged Senior Parliamentary Assistant & Communications Officer to support his parliamentary and constituency work. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on complex policy casework, constituency enquiries, and parliamentary issues, providing detailed research, analysis, and strategic policy advice to support the MP's work.
  • Produce high-quality briefing notes, speeches, parliamentary questions, reports, and correspondence to ensure the MP is fully informed and prepared for debates, meetings, and public engagements.
  • Develop and deliver the MP's communications strategy across digital, print, and social media platforms, ensuring effective engagement with constituents, stakeholders, and the wider public.
  • Create compelling digital content, including videography, photography, graphic design, and social media assets, managing projects from concept through to publication.
  • Accompany the MP to visits, parliamentary engagements, meetings, and events, capturing content and providing communications, political, and operational support.
  • Monitor political developments, legislation, media coverage, and emerging issues, providing timely advice and recommendations on matters affecting constituents and parliamentary priorities.
  • Research local, regional, and national issues to support policy development, campaigns, parliamentary business, and constituency initiatives.
  • Draft and manage responses to correspondence and enquiries from constituents, community organisations, government departments, the media, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage competing priorities and projects effectively, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high professional standard.
  • Supervise and support junior Westminster staff, interns, and volunteers, providing guidance and oversight where required.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with community groups, public bodies, campaign organisations, and parliamentary colleagues to advance the MP's objectives.
  • Represent the MP at meetings and events where appropriate.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of parliamentary procedure, public policy, and legislative developments.
  • Provide flexible support outside normal office hours.
