About the BDA
The BDA is the voice of dentists and dental students in the UK. We are the trade union, professional association and scientific society for dentists. Our work brings dentists together to represent their interests to Government and the NHS and to campaign for policy changes as well as providing support to our members through advice and education.
About the role
The post combines maintaining an understanding of and an interest in dentistry and oral health issues, with professional and high-quality committee secretariat skills, the ability to communicate effectively and a desire to provide high-quality service to BDA members in Scotland. The purpose of the role is to provide secretariat support to committees in Scotland, support the National Director in the efficient development and dissemination of healthcare policy and communication with various stakeholders.
About you
The post holder should ideally have the following skills and attributes:
• A knowledge of, and interest in, healthcare systems and policy development.
• Experience of supporting committees.
• An analytical mind and ability to assimilate, comprehend and explain information on a range of issues.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• To be able to provide a high level of service to BDA members and other individuals.
• The ability to work individually and as part of a team.
• Good IT skills.
About the team
Staff based in Scotland include the BDA Scotland National Director, Committee Officer, Senior Policy Advisor, Employment Relations Officer and Practice Management Consultant for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
