Job Details

Jen Craft MP is seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Parliamentary Assistant to support her work in Westminster.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and politically engaged individual with an understanding of Parliament to play a key role in the Westminster office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Draft speeches, articles and correspondence on behalf of the MP.
  • Manage a busy and complex Westminster diary, prioritising and coordinating competing demands.
  • Monitor parliamentary business and brief the MP accordingly.
  • Research policy issues and prepare clear, concise briefing notes for meetings, committees and debates.
  • Liaise with government departments, external organisations, stakeholders and constituents as required.
  • Monitor media coverage and horizon-scan for issues relevant to the MP's policy interests and constituency.
  • Provide support at meetings and events, occasionally outside normal working hours.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required in relation to the MP's parliamentary work.

Skills and experience:

  • Essential: Previous experience working in, or adjacent to, Parliament.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with proven experience of managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding of Parliament and the legislative process.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex information clearly.
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
