Andrew Cooper MP is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly organised Caseworker to join his constituency team in Mid Cheshire. We are looking to appoint either one full-time or two part-time Caseworkers, on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027.
The successful candidate(s) will manage a busy and varied caseload, helping constituents navigate public services, access support and resolve problems.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a varied caseload of constituent enquiries promptly, sensitively and accurately.
• Communicate with constituents by telephone, email, letter and face-to-face.
• Research issues and identify practical solutions.
• Liaise with government departments, local authorities, NHS organisations, housing providers and other agencies.
• Draft clear, concise and high-quality correspondence on behalf of the MP.
• Maintain accurate and confidential casework records and ensure actions are followed up.
• Assist with advice surgeries, constituency meetings and events.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the constituency and parliamentary teams.
Essential Criteria
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal sensitively and compassionately with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload.
• Ability to manage expectations and exercise sound judgement in challenging circumstances.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work proactively and independently as well as part of a small team.
• Commitment to excellent public service and the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Desirable Criteria
• Previous casework, advice, advocacy, customer service or other public-facing experience.
• Experience liaising with public bodies and service providers.
• Experience using case management or CRM systems.
• An interest in local and national policy.
• Membership of the Labour Party.
• A driving licence and ability to travel around the constituency.
Previous parliamentary or political experience is not essential and applicants with relevant transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
