Job Details
Natasha Irons is the MP for Croydon East, a vibrant borough in London where the right individual can make a real impact. The job is primarily- but not exclusively- based within the Constituency which is situated on the tram network and within easy reach of mainline train stations.
We’re looking for someone who is motivated and understands how to work in a small team to achieve results quickly. Previous experience of working in Parliament is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop a communications strategy for the Member as a constituency-focussed MP with engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels
• Manage the MP’s relationships and engagement with constituents and constituent groups to maximise reach and impact in her work
• Provide oversight of and delegate tasks to junior members of the team, including the communications and campaigns assistant
• Ensure online presence is meeting the demands of the constituents, the locality and the MP
• Establish and develop appropriate strategies around social media, written communications and online presence in the constituency.
• Draft and publish content across formats including print, digital and video
• Evaluate the impact of external communications activity
• Proactive and re-active communications with all media
• Respond professionally, sensitively, confidentially and with integrity to routine correspondence and enquiries by email, telephone, social media and face to face from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups
Skills and Experience:
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including the ability to lead and support colleagues
• A background in developing communications and campaign strategies and overseeing their effective delivery
• Experience in stakeholder management and community engagement
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Competence in producing online graphics and video content is essential
• Previous experience working for a Parliamentarian is highly desirable, as is a commitment to aims and values of the Labour Party
• Experience in using social media platforms, including creating engaging content, monitoring interactions and responding to enquiries.
