Job Details
Labour Climate and Environment Forum is an independent organisation working across the labour movement to promote climate and environmental ambition. We are looking for a Parliamentary Engagement Manager who understands Westminster and has an interest in our issues.
The successful candidate will lead LCEF engagement in Westminster to raise climate and environmental ambition. Working with programme managers, they will advance LCEF’s strategic objectives through parliamentary advocacy, strategic comms, political analysis and event delivery. They will be responsible for bringing insight, ideas and asks from political staekholders to stregthen LCEF’s impact.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of working in a political ecosystem; parliamentary experience is preferable but not essential. Effective insight of relevant stakeholders is vital. As a small organisation, LCEF is looking for a motivated deliverer who can manage a changeable workload.
Responsibilities
1. Stakeholder engagement
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including MPs, peers, staff and advisers
• Cultivate relationships with wider audiences connected to the labour movement
• Alongside programme managers, build and deliver an agenda of parliamentary political engagement
2. Written advocacy
• Horizon scan for opportunities for influence in the parliamentary calendar
• Support the production of strong written briefings on key issues
• Maintain good knowledge of relevant policy issues for translation into political interventions
3. Communication and social media
• Provide MPs with frames and narratives that best work for our issues
• Generate social media outputs, including digital media, that best engage with stakeholders
• Produce blogs, op-eds and other outputs for the LCEF audience
4. Event management
• Deliver roundtables, briefing sessions and panel discussions
• Maintain a high professional standard of event delivery
• Support LCEF in its presence at party conferences
5. Part of the LCEF team
• Work as a small yet motivated team to deliver LCEF’s aims, and be able to work independently with confidence
• Commit to three days a week minimum in our central London office
• Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes collaboration, creativity and ambition.
