The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) is an independent, nonpartisan, evidence-informed think tank with offices in Washington, DC and Brussels. Its goal is to improve immigration and integration policy through authoritative research, policy analysis, dialogue and new ideas. We are recruiting a full-time Associate Policy Analyst for our Global Programme, a close-knit team stretched across several continents working on some of the most pressing migration policy questions of the moment.

The role will support empirical research and comparative policy analysis on issues including labour migration, public trust in migration policy, irregular migration, refugee protection, and climate-related migration. The Global Programme has an established portfolio of work in Latin America, East Africa and Europe, alongside emerging work in South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Australia. We also have a number of UK-based projects, for which it would be useful to have someone based in London or elsewhere in the UK.

The successful candidate will have a seat at the table from day one, from developing research ideas to helping develop methodologies, drafting background notes and policy briefs, helping organise high-level convenings, and supporting with field work. As their expertise develops, the Associate Policy Analyst will have opportunities to co-author—and potentially lead-author—MPI policy briefs, op-eds and longer publications, as well as engage with policymakers and the media.

MPI is looking for someone with a master’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Applicants should bring strong research, analytical, writing and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, initiative and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Knowledge of international migration trends and policies, alongside expertise in one or more countries, is particularly welcome—especially relating to Africa, Latin America or Europe. Experience with quantitative analysis is an advantage, but not essential.
