Shout Out UK are a multi-award winning social enterprise that provides impartial Political and Media Literacy training and campaigns focused on democratic engagement and combatting disinformation online, tailored to local circumstances and culture
The Position:
You will be joining our small, passionate NGO to facilitate our educational programmes focused on Political and Media Literacy, with a specific focus on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE). Reporting to the PCVE Lead, you will be tasked with facilitating workshops in a variety of settings, as well as contributing to the design of our resources and evaluation of projects. Delivery settings and audiences can vary from students at a college/school/ PRU, as well as frontline practitioners and community members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitation of workshops across a diverse range of settings and cohorts, but primarily with young people.
- Recruit, coordinate and support schools and teachers across the UK to take on our political and media literacy course, workshops and projects.
- Update and create resources around the topics of Political Literacy, Media Literacy and Counter-Extremism
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with teachers, councils, 3rd sector stakeholders through our CRM system.
- Travel nationally and/or internationally to deliver workshops as needed.
- Fulfil other duties as reasonably requested.
Requirements:
- Experience in delivering workshops to young people and/or adults
- Experience in teaching and/or school settings
- Confidence
- Good speaking and writing skills
- An understanding of and interest in media & political literacy and/or counter-extremism (PCVE / REMVE)
- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a diverse workload
- Although you will receive training on the job, it would be desirable to have a strong understanding of extremism and radicalisation, in particular, Islamist Extremism, Extreme Right Wing, and Fascination with Extreme Violence.
