Job Details
We are looking for someone who can:
- Develop and execute policy interventions clearly setting out the Shadow Foreign Secretary’s position.
- Challenge and scrutinise the government’s foreign policy positions, carrying out detailed research on opposition policies.
- Research and write speeches, policy white papers, high-quality briefings, and parliamentary questions.
- Support the Shadow Foreign Secretary and Shadow FCDO front bench on parliamentary business.
- Be a team player. The role is focused on supporting the Shadow Foreign Secretary, while working closely with the Shadow FCDO team and the Leader of the Opposition's office.
- Independently organise, prioritise and take responsibility for a demanding workload.
Essential:
- Exceptional research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast paced environment.
- Clear and concise written style.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Political experience with excellent political judgement.
- Commitment to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
Desirable:
- Experience in opposition or political campaigning.
- A strong in depth understanding of how Parliament works.
- Experience in foreign affairs, defence and security.
