Job Title: Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager

Working For: Shelter Cymru

Location: Wales

Salary: £36,745 per annum

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Shelter Cymru is looking for an individual with experience of working in public affairs and campaigns to join us in the newly created role of Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager. In this role you will lead our engagement work with external stakeholders such as political figures, contribute to the running of campaigns, and line manage two members of staff.
At a time when the housing emergency in Wales is negatively impacting people and communities across the whole of the country this is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of the Fight for Home, and to be directly involved in securing the changes necessary to ensure everyone in Wales can access a safe, secure, suitable and genuinely affordable home.
You will work alongside a range of expert colleagues in Shelter Cymru's Campaigns Team, including those focused on external communications, policy development and lived experience engagement.

About you
You will be an experienced campaigner who has a track record of delivering impactful campaigns and securing changes to policy and legislation in Wales. Ideally, you will have direct experience of working with the Senedd and the Welsh Government, accompanied by an understanding of the role that public campaigns can play in driving change. Experience of working in campaigns or advocacy for an organisation that offers front line service provision would also be welcomed.
While prior experience in housing or another social justice area is desirable it's more important that you share our commitment to ending the housing emergency in Wales. And our belief that change must be focused on achieving outcomes for the people that are currently experiencing the daily realities of Wales' broken housing system.
If you are interested in this role and would like to discuss it in more detail then we are happy to arrange a conversation with Robin White, Head of Campaigns.

Closing Date: 5 October 2026

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews: Likely to take place on either Friday 16 October or Tuesday 20 October
