Job Details
Pam Cox MP is seeking a motivated and organised individual to join the constituency team as a Caseworker and Social Media Officer. This varied role combines frontline casework support for constituents with responsibility for managing and developing the MP's presence. The successful candidate will be passionate about public service, possess excellent communication skills and be able to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Casework
- Manage a caseload of constituency enquiries on a range of issues including housing, benefits, immigration, health, education and local government services
- Liaise with government departments, local authorities, agencies and other organisations on behalf of constituents
- Draft correspondence, reports and briefings
- Maintain accurate records using the parliamentary casework management system
- Attend constituency surgeries and assist constituents seeking support
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and confidentiality requirements
Social Media and Communications
- Manage the MP's social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Create engaging content including graphics, photographs, videos and written posts
- Monitor social media activity and respond appropriately where required
- Promote constituency events, campaigns and parliamentary activity
- Produce newsletters, press releases and website content
- Monitor engagement and provide regular performance reports
Essential Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience of customer service, advocacy, public affairs, communications or casework
- Knowledge of social media platforms and content creation
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working in politics, local government, charities or the public sector
- Understanding of parliamentary processes
- Experience using design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of issues affecting local communities
