The caseworker will deliver timely, relevant advice and responses to constituent enquiries. Candidates will have a high level of experience working effectively with the public from all walks of life and be comfortable working at pace.

The job is office based in Kirkcaldy and the role holder will be expected to attend regular surgeries with the MP.

Job Requirements
Working under the supervision of our Head of Office, the Caseworker will:

  • Handle a large volume of constituent queries by phone, email, and face-to-face meetings
  • Manage a diverse caseload, from standard enquiries to complex cases, ensuring prompt, sensitive and accurate responses
  • Draft correspondence to constituents, government agencies, local authorities and other relevant organisations
  • Maintain an efficient casework management system, logging all cases and monitoring progress
  • Assist with MP surgeries, constituency meetings, managing follow-up actions as required
  • Ensure all records and information are managed confidentially and in compliance with data protection legislation and office policies
  • Research policy areas and public services to support casework resolution

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous advice work, administrative or senior customer service experience
  • Ability to understand complex issues
  • Ability to manage a demanding, fast paced workload and prioritise effectively
  • Strong organisational skills and close attention to detail
  • Empathetic approach and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and googledrive
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of local issues affecting Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy
  • Knowledge of parliamentary, government, local authority or public service processes
  • A full driving license
