The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) is the voice of firefighters in the UK, representing over 33,000 uniformed front line emergency staff of the fire and rescue services. We are the only recognised trade union negotiating nationally for firefighters and emergency fire control staff and are a powerful force for change in the working conditions of our members.

We're seeking a passionate and driven individual to lead and coordinate our training, development and education work. You will play a key role in ensuring that dynamic and impactful training is developed, arranged and delivered to our officials and members; training that increases knowledge, awareness and engagement, particularly of equalities issues. You will assist in developing training and education policies and strategies that support the FBU’s training and equalities priorities.

You will work and collaborate with officials of all levels of the union, the equality and trade sections, and colleagues across other departments to make a real difference to the lived experience of FBU members. You will bring practical expertise and experience in developing and delivering training, development and education programmes and campaigns, and contribute to joined-up approaches across the Union.

Flexible, agile and resilient, you will have a proven track record of developing, organising and delivering high-quality training and education programmes and events. You will also have deep knowledge of equalities legislation and issues, coupled with experience of contributing to the development of policy and strategy in these areas.
This is a new role, following a restructuring of the team. One of your first tasks will be to undertake a brief review of our overall training, development and education approach and, ideally, you will have experience of this.
