Job Details

We are looking for a highly organised, compassionate and proactive Caseworker to join the constituency office of Samantha Niblett MP. 

This important role supports constituents who contact the office for assistance with a wide range of issues.

Key responsibilities
Assist with constituency surgeries, meetings and follow-up actions as required.

Attend constituency meetings and represent the office as appropriate.

Respond to a high volume of enquiries from constituents by telephone, email, social media and face to face.

Assist with complex constituency cases, maintaining communication with constituents and relevant organisations where necessary.

Draft clear, accurate and appropriate responses to constituents.

Gather relevant information and liaise with appropriate organisations to help progress and resolve cases.

Record and log all cases accurately, monitoring progress and ensuring agreed actions are followed through.

Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with data protection legislation.

Ensure all cases are dealt with promptly, sensitively, professionally and in accordance with the MP’s approach and office procedures.

Handle sensitive personal information responsibly and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Support the wider constituency team with meetings, surgeries and other activities as required.

About you
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Approachable, empathetic and able to deal sensitively with people experiencing difficult circumstances.

Can manage a busy and varied workload.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

Confident communicating with constituents and external organisations by phone, email and in person.

Can gather, assess and communicate information clearly.

Understands the importance of confidentiality.

Able to work independently while contributing positively to a small, busy team.

Demonstrates sound judgement, discretion and professionalism.

Previous experience of casework, constituency work, public-facing services or a similar environment would be advantageous.

Working arrangements
The role will be based in the constituency office, 2 days a week - Monday to Thursday. There may be an occasional requirement to work outside normal office hours and to travel for work, including attending meetings and constituency events.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
