Working For: BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT
Location: London
Salary: Up to £44,000
Length of Contract: Permanent
Job Details
If you care about how AI and technology will change the country over the next decade, and you want a hand in making sure that change works for people, this could be the job for you. Tech policy is now where some of the biggest questions in British politics are being settled. Jobs, growth, public services, online safety, who we trust to build the systems we all rely on. This role puts you in the middle of those debates.
BCS exists to make IT good for society. The role covers commissioning and running research, turning findings into reports and briefings that decision-makers use, and running roundtables that keep us close to Westminster and Whitehall.
We are particularly interested in people with skills in quantitative research and analysis, alongside strong writing and a good understanding of how government makes policy.
The Policy and Research Manager provides the evidence base behind BCS's policy and public affairs work, turning research, data and analysis into positions and content that support the organisation's efforts to influence decision-makers on issues affecting the tech profession.
Working closely with the Director of Policy and Public Affairs, the role leads on commissioning and delivering research, and on planning and running policy roundtables and events that keep BCS's thinking connected to developments in Westminster, Whitehall and the wider policy landscape.
The postholder is expected to work independently on complex material, translating findings into reports, briefings and other content that a range of audiences, from the public to policymakers and academics, can use.
