Job Details
Tim Farron MP is recruiting an experienced office manager to be based in his constituency office. This is a busy and varied role. Due to the constituency covering a vast rural area a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead and maintain a highly professional administrative support function for the MP’s office.
• Overall management of the Member's diary commitments, delegating tasks to others as appropriate.
• Manage the office team, ensuring accurate personnel records are kept and notifying IPSA of contractual changes, as necessary.
• Responsibility for managing all aspects of the budget, keeping the MP informed of all relevant financial matters and consulting with IPSA on office finance.
• Support and manage the recruitment of staff for the MP’s office.
• Fundraising Lead and Event Planning.
• Deal with security matters, keep abreast of security guidance, maintain the security system, consult with external bodies as appropriate.
• Consult with groups/personnel including at Westminster, within the constituency and the public on the MP’s behalf, as necessary.
• Plan the MP's internal communications and external stakeholder engagement and provide strategic advice on constituent matters on behalf of the MP where appropriate.
• Year-end processing.
• Have final sign-off on all relevant delegated areas from the MP, for example, constituent correspondence.
• Identify training opportunities and ensure the office team maintains and develops knowledge of relevant legislation where appropriate.
• IT Lead.
• HR Administration.
• Ensure the office is fully equipped.
• Key Holder and 24/HR Alarm Contact
• Provide high-quality, efficient and effective support to the MP and interest groups as required.
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours, including attending events with the MP as required.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
